Thunderbirds prove difficult in season opener

Narek Aleksanyan scored a goal late in the second and Zack Turpin followed up with a goal in the final minutes of Saturday night's game but it wasn't enough to help Fresno claim a victory against the Las Vegas Thunderbirds. The final score was 2-5.

TOP MONSTERS Narek Aleksanyan: Aleksanyan scored the first goal of the season for the Monsters on Friday night and repeated in Saturday night's game.

Zack Turpin: Turpin netted the final goal for Fresno late in the third during game 2.

Ty Wright: The Monsters captain had one assist to Aleksanyan during game 1.

LOOKING AHEAD Fresno has a lot of work ahead of them as they will return to Vegas next weekend on Friday night at 6:05 p.m. at Sobe Ice Arena. It will be interesting to see if the Monsters adjust their strategy going into next weekend and how they will handle the Svartbro/Urbanec situation, Urbanec being a former Long Beach player that accounted for many of the Thunderbirds points.

Fans can catch the game on Black Dog Hockey and follow along on twitter.
